What are some really good Christian fantasy books?

November 292011

I love Christian fantasy and seeing the truths and lessons I can get out of it. I’ve read the Chronicles of Narnia, the Lord of the Rings, the Dragon Keeper Series (by Donita K. Paul), Auralia’s Colors, the Door Within Trilogy, and Dragons in our Midst. I was wondering if anybody out there knows of any more good Christian fantasy books for older teens. And please don’t write anything mean please, anybody. Thank you!

First, to the person who stated Lord of the Rings is not Christian, you are mistaken. In fact, Tolkien repeatedly identified Christian themes in Lord of the Rings. For example, in a letter, Tolkien made the following statement: “The Lord of the Rings is of course a fundamentally religious and Catholic work, unconsciously so at first, but consciously in the revision…the religious element is absorbed into the story and symbolism.” Far from making a stupid assumption, Kittycat was actually coming into agreement with the author’s own perspective of his work.

Now, on to the original question. Kittycat, here are some additional Christian fantasy suggestions for you. I will list authors, rather than titles, because many of these writers have multiple books released.

Jill Williamson
Stephen Lawhead
LB Graham
RJ Anderson
Anne Elizabeth Stengl
ND Wilson

I also blog on Christian fantasy at http://www.sarahsawyer.com/blog and at the beginning of each month post new releases in the genre.

What are some great paperback/hardcover books to learn c++ programming that are current and up to date?

What are some great paperback/hardcover books to learn c++ programming that are current and up to date?

C++ just went through a major revision, and as far as I know, there are no books yet covering the changes. So I would argue that there aren’t any up to date books on C++. Here’s a list of great books that cover the previous edition though, and pretty much all the knowledge in them is still applicable:

Best Christian books you can recommend for physically ill people?

November 132011

Is there any christian book you can recommend to me. I’m hoping to give it as a gift for my friend’s birthday and, as an encouragement too so she won’t lose hope on her treatment. She is physically Ill right now and undergoing dialysis. I particularly love Harold Sala but I have no idea which of one of his books should I choose for her. Thanks in advance. God bless everyone…=)

I guess that depends on whether you want to just comfort her in her illness or get her healed by the power of God.
If you are seeking the latter, I would recommend anything by Kenneth E. Hagin.

What are some good fiction books about regreting an abortion?

November 102011

I was wondering if there’s any good books that are about teens that had gotten an abortion and regretted it that are fiction.? Someone help please?

It’s not about abortion, however, After by Amy Efaw is a fantastic(but sad) book about a 15 year old girl who gives birth to baby and, not knowing what to do with it, disposes of the baby and all evidence in the dumpster near her house.
Definitely a quick read, but it’s worth it.

What two books would you recommend for a review paper for history class?

I need to write a review essay on two books on the same subject for history class. I want to write on the great depression, and I wondering if anyone had any suggestions as far as good books were concerned. Ideally, I would like to read two books with opposing views or juxtapositioning positions on certain factors. Any help would appreciated.

Andrew Marr’s making of modern Britain is really good and I’m reading it for history. It has some humour in it which is also good as well as facts. If that’s not really the kind of book you’re looking for there’s Anne Frank’s diary of course :)
