Buddha Art ~ Most Rewarding Time Painting Buddha

October 272010

One of the most rewarding times I painted Buddha for a client was a mural in his home. The Buddha was to be set in a soffit at the end of the hallway. On either side of the end of the hallway was the doors to his daughters rooms who were around the ages of 8 and 10. It was enjoyable because I always love painting murals, you get to go big and you get to expand. He wanted bright colors and lots of Asian influenced clouds. I liked the idea of painting Buddha in the saffit because he sat well there and vibrated out. His daughters really loved the piece and he later hired me to do some more work in his office. Paintings of a chines dragon and horse the chines astrology signs of his daughters. I charged him $400 for the Buddha art and $600 for the work in the office.

Calgary Waterfalls – Sounds and splashes

October 202010

Don’t you just wish you always hear the sounds of waterfalls? You can have this in your garden with a well designed Calgary Waterfalls. Just imagine the trickling sounds it makes.

Almost everyone I know wished to have a waterfall in their property. This gives calmness to the senses in the same way nature waterfalls do.

A waterfall in the garden has become a favorite water feature to many people. Though some have find it challenging to incorporate it in their landscape, it’s not that hard if you have professional guidance from an expert.

How do we start, I’ll share them to you…

1. Choose the location

Locate the area where you want to place the waterfall. Find a path of the water stream where you can see it from the house. You should be able to enjoy easily the sight of this natural wonder.

For a lot of people, the sounds of trickles on the rocks of the water us important. So decide the spot of the waterfall and stream where you can hear it.

As much as possible, set the waterfall where it is naturally elevated. Create a hill if there’s none. Place the waterfall against a stone wall to hide the origin of the elevation.

2. Waterfall dimensions

Design the dimensions of your stream and waterfall. Measure the height of the waterfall at it’s origin as well as it’s width and depth. Draw the length of the stream from the water pump up to the waterfall to determine the strength of the pump that you need.

There are three stages in your waterfall system. It starts from the head of the waterfalls as the water trickles down to the rocks at the bottom of the pool. Then, as the water gathers up in the pool. It ends when the garden pump collects the water to deliver it back to the waterfall head through the concealed pipe supply.

3. Water volume

Do you still know the width, length and depth of your garden falls? Multiply the product of the three by 7.48, a measurement in gallons per cubic feet. The result you get here is the total gallons of your stream.

The rocks usually take up 60% of the volume of the pond, so you will need to multiply the gallons of the water stream by 40%.

4. Buy a water pump

Have all your waterfall measurements when you go to the store. You may need this so the supplier can give you the right water pump. Pumps are based in gallons per hour or GPH.

The water pump that you need should be larger than the actual elevation height of the waterfall. Shop owners can help you with conversion so make sure your measurements are exact.

5. Buy the water pipes

Get the pipes for your water pump that would equal the outlet size of the pump. It must have the same diameter. Unmatched pipes such as a a quarter inch pipe attach to half inch outlet restricts the water flow.

6. Waterpool

Hallow out the pool area, just make sure its the same shape and size of the pond liner. Place the liner in the excavation of the pool. Provide a foundation, then level with sand.

Shovel some soil from the edge of the pond liner, then put in the plastic landscape. Place some stones around the perimeter to create a natural landscape illusion.

7. Set up water pipes and pump

Tuck in the water pumps, cover it, then put some stones in them to mimic the natural surroundings.

Lay the tubing supply from the water pump to the head of the waterfall. Bury the expose length of the pipings, hiding them from view.

8. Last elements

Decorate the streambed, then cement the other cascade rocks. Backfill all the stones and rocks with ground covers, gravel, soil and plants to create a more natural appearance.

Fill your pond with some water. Plug the pump into the socket. Water should be quick enough to go to the waterfalls on top.

You should be able to hear those bubbling sounds in your garden with a Waterfalls Calgary. Consider having one and it would surely satisfy you for years to come.

Calgary Gardens – Activities you can do

October 202010

Ever notice when the days seems longer, with the sun out in the open, spreading warmth in the environment. The most pleasurable thing when this happens is to go outdoors. Enjoy the surroundings with the birds, plants and many other species in nature.

Having a beautifully planned Calgary Garden in your home is a great way to do this. You can simulate natural habitats and enjoy them with your family.

North America refers to “garden” simply as a backyard. Others refer to it as their house lawn.

There are many forms of gardens today some man-made, while others are incorporated with natural settings.

Xeriscape is a certain type that maximizes resources with primitive plants without a need for too much water sprinklers.

These beautiful piece of land can have structural embellishments like water ponds, garden pool, sculpture, patios, decks and gazebos.

Through the many definitions, forms and features of a garden, it would be interesting to note the many uses and activities owners do in them.

Plants Cultivation

Gardens are created to produce edible plants or mainly as aesthetics. Most of the time, there’s a combination of food plants and showy flowers.

Organic gardening can grow onion chives, cherry tomatoes, herbs, brussel sprouts oliver, salad greens and strawberries. Growing useful produce can help you save since you’re grow organic plants.

Garden flowers can have various plants in different shape, color and aroma. Some examples are sweet birch, garden nightshade, red mulberry and sugar maple.

Birdwatching pleasures

Did you know you can also use your garden spots for nature observation? Try birdwatching. It is one of the most pleasurable activities I have done and you just need a binocular. Some of the birds you should look for in your garden are finches, goldcrest, collared dove, redwing, wren and starlings.

Try to hang feeders in the trees or just use a bird table to attract the birds. Nothing is greater than to have a new sense of appreciation on the different species of nature.

Observing insects

An interesting activity in the garden that you can also do is watching insects. We can took them for granted at times when we feel something tickle at our backs, but we can take pleasure to observe and study the insects in our garden landscape.

Also, set out a small excursion for your kids and have them bring their magnifying glasses. Let them work their way and study nature. You can look into tree barks and the leaves.

Wrap your mind in the insects and ask yourself what they are up to. There’s always more to nature’s wonders as soon as we look closer into them.

Reflecting changing seasons

A garden activity I find calming is observing the seasons as it changes in the surroundings. Though you can only see slight changes, it’s great to keep trail of the landscape as its shifts its mood through the four seasons.

It’s nice to watch the squirrels prepare for winter and watch the shade trees drop their leaves.

What’s more excellent than to watch seeds grow into beautiful flowers. Observing how pollens transfer from one plant to the next is a thing of beauty.

This is just a marvelous way to watch nature’s changing colors.

Rest and recreation

This could be the simplest reason for you to have a garden – a place to relax. You can read and just relax in a hammock while the children run and play in your beautiful backyard.

As you’ve just see, these are just special interests you can try. They do look arousing.

Even if maintaining and growing a Gardens Calgary looks so demanding, this brings satisfaction to you in the long run. You will surely love it!

When designing your property contemporary paintings or modern art prints can usually provide life to your home. If you’re on a spending budget then naturally prints are going to be much more inexpensive but with a trendy frame, or as a modern new box print, they can appear just as nice. The choices and varieties of paintings and prints can vary significantly. Abstract art prints , flower prints, landscape paintings, seascape prints and portraits are amongst the most common sorts. Certainly which you pick is actually a matter of taste.

The paintings or prints have to match the color plan of the room. Portraits or landscapes would go well with classical designed furniture. The Seasons and Calgary Gardeners

October 122010

A Calgary Garden is about the seasons. Gardeners in Calgary should make the most of each season and appreciate what it can do for their Calgary Garden.

People in Calgary who enjoy their gardens are a special breed of people. They have to be.

It always seems like summer goes by so fast and there is not a lot of time to truly enjoy Gardens in Calgary. As a Gardener myself, in the Calgary area, I like to spend as much time in my garden as possible, weather permitting.

Calgary is know more long, but mild winters, so one should pay attention to the ambitions and plan for your garden. Reflection is what winter time is for.

Spring is a time to enjoy your Calgary Garden.

Every year, the lilacs give off a sweet scent in many Calgary Gardens during the spring. Spring also makes me see Nectar being nourished by a passing bee in a Calgary garden.

Ecosystems come alive as vibrant colors re-emerge with only a small number of Garden plants.

Your dog suddenly has more energy as he scrambles to get outside to the garden area, on a typical spring day Calgary.

The warmth that spring has to offer is truly an amazing thing.

Maybe winter was invented so that Calgary Gardeners may have time to think about what they are going to do next summer in their garden

The Gardening season in Calgary is usually about half the year. When winter finally takes her icy grasp, gardeners have taken accustom to a weather pattern called a Chinook.

Chinooks are famous for their warming conditions. For some people this is good, but for Calgary Gardeners it means damage to plants and gardens. The precious dormant plants can sometimes be tricked into thinking that it is spring even going so far as starting new tender growth, which can be lethal when the next winter storm hits.

As well, with all of this, Chinooks cause plants to dry out. The warm blowing air quickly can remove an insulating blanket of snow and dry things out pretty quickly.

The cedar, a slightly out of zone plant that is found in Calgary is one plant that is particularly vulnerable. It is bested to use burlap to wrap plants such as these.

After the winter season in Calgary, spring arrives and gardens rejoice with lifem once again.

The newly formed plants again have life, completing the cycle of another year.

Time sure goes fast!

And us Gardeners, we love nature so there is appreciate to be had for all seasons, even with winter and her sister the Chinook .

So, next winter, use the winter to plan out your garden for the next spring, to make the best use of time.

As well, you may want to invest in some plants for the indoors to help with your inspirations

Good luck with your offseason efforts!

The Seasons and Calgary Gardeners

October 122010

The changing temperatures that a new season brings us is what a Calgary Gardener has to contend with. We should all as Calgary Gardeners make the most that each season has to offer.

Passion is a word that could define a Calgary Gardener

It always seems like summer goes by so fast and there is not a lot of time to truly enjoy Gardens in Calgary. As a Gardener myself, in the Calgary area, I like to spend as much time in my garden as possible, weather permitting.

Calgary is know more long, but mild winters, so one should pay attention to the ambitions and plan for your garden. Reflection is what winter time is for.

On the other hand, Spring is when Calgary Gardens come alive again.

The warm smell of lilacs permeating many Calgary Gardens on a nice spring day is what I look forward to every year. A passing bee loves to stop from flower to flower collecting nectar from a favorite Calgary garden.

Color and life thrive in the mini ecosystem a Calgary Gardener will accomplish, with just a few garden plants.

In Calgary, the gardening season is about six months at most. When the cold finally comes around, the people of Calgary have gotten used to a phenomenon known as a Chinook

Calgary Chinooks pose another problem for gardens. The wind. Due to the pressure variance associated with Calgary Chinooks, high winds can dry out plants in your gardens.

Cedars are one particular Calgary garden plant that should be wrapped with burlap if you want any hope whatsoever of survival.

After the winter season in Calgary, spring arrives and gardens rejoice with lifem once again.

Another year has come and gone, the birth of spring is upon us, again.

Time sure goes fast!

And us Gardeners, we love nature so there is appreciate to be had for all seasons, even with winter and her sister the Chinook .

Calgary Landscape Design

October 22010

You are on your Calgary patio, the sun is shining, the birds are chirping and there sits that yard that you have been meaning to do something with for the longest time.

You take a deep breath and think about a landscape design that would fit your needs and the Calgary climate.

A couple questions to ask when deciding on what do with your Calgary landscape design.

Firstly, your yard must look visually pleasing, but at the same time not fall apart.

Secondly: Where does one find a good Landscape designer in Calgary that can create a proper design that suites my styles and my budget.

You could do it yourself. Are you up to it? Getting things wrong in this part of the design, is not good because you always build on your mistakes.

It’s not fun to do things twice ..that is why having a sound landscape design is absolutely detrimental to your landscaping success in Calgary.

So .once you have determined who is doing your design, next is to focus on aesthetics vs. functionality.

Aesthetically, a yard will have flow. Things will be easy to look at and your eye should not stop in one place. (in most cases)

Experienced Calgary Landscape have a name for this. This is called having a smooth transition from house to home. The easiest way to do this is to have smooth flowing curves in the gardens and hardscapes. Hardscapes are things like patios, waterfeatures and other such things.

After designing for a beautiful Calgary Landscape you need to take into account functionality.

What needs to be done, so that your landscape will stand up through the years?

Calgary is a great spot for building. This is simply because we have a lot of clay. In most residential areas, one only has to remove about a foot of organics before you can hit clay in Calgary. Anything ‘black’ is usually organic and will degrade or rot with time. Anything that is a beige color in Calgary is usually clay and can be considered stable for building, provided that the surface is undisturbed.

Other functional considerations when designing landscapes in Calgary.

You must think about plants, and which ones will do well in your yard. This is usually plants that are installed that are local to the area.

Also, what spacing requirements are needed for your design to ensure that your plants will not be over crowded with time?

Learning how to successfully design the best landscape possible for your Calgary home is an art as well as a science.

If you do not have experience, I would recommend hiring a professional landscape designer.

Although, from my experience some of the most talented Calgary Landscape designers didn’t have a formal education. They had a natural talent for designing landscapes and knew the Calgary area very well.

Good luck with finding a Calgary Landscape Designer .
