I recommend the BBC (British Broadcasting Commision) language program "Ma France". You can find it at www.bbc.co.uk/languages/french. I’ve recommended it to my high school students and had positive feedback from them about it.
I want to save as much money as possible & I was thinking about getting books online for college. There’s this girl that is selling two books through our facebook college page…is it okay if I ask her if the books are in good condition? I wouldn’t want to get a book w/ missing pages stuff like that…or should I just get the books at my college bookstore? Any tips or thoughts are welcomed!
It can be smart or risky, depending on the seller and terms.
As you are buying from a private party, there is a lot more risk. It is a student at your college, so that may be a mitigating factor: you should have the opportunity to inspect the book before the sale is final, unless she is talking about shipping it to you from her hometown (or whatever).
In that case, you need to be more careful. For example, if the books are very expensive, it is advisable to use a standard rating system for used books: ask her to rate the books using the amazon.com condition standards: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=1161242
It is not likely the books are missing pages or are so badly marked up as to be unusable. Do check amazon.com merchants, bookfinder.com, and ebay.com, for comparable prices on the same ISBN or edition. I often bought my textbooks through these sources (be careful to check ebay.com sellers ratings).
I also networked with other students in my major (and others) a year or two ahead of me, to buy their books for a few$ more than the bookstore’s buyback. And I sold my books to the bookstore for closer to what I paid for them!
I was planning on ordering some books online at Barnes&Noble. My order was for three books, two of the books are pre-ordered. I was wondering if i could have the books delivered to the store instead of shipped to my house. Would all the books arrive at the same time or each one depending on the time they are released or in stock? Would i still have to pay shipping cost? And how do I know if the separate packaging fee is for the total order or each individual book?

The book links they have will lead you to the dealer that offers books online to read, but you have to look closely. Because they offer regular books, kindle books and online books to read. I have a large science fiction and fantasy collection that I am breaking up and want to sell. I am wondering the best way to sell these books online. These books are mostly paperbacks in mint condition (I read the books at the library and then bought them at Coles for the collecting). BOOKS ARE A TOUGH SELL. 99%of books don’t command a great deal of money. Before you waste your time, visit larger used book booksellers on the web such as Abe’s Books:

For each book, see what the booksellers are asking for the book. Then you may want to establish your guidelines as to whether you want to list the book or not. Perhaps these guidelines may work for you:
If used booksellers are asking $5 or less for the book, don’t bother. Selling items for $5 or less at eBay, in my opinion, is a time and energy waster for little return. If this is the case, you may just want to group a lot of 3-5 books in one auction listing and categorize your listings either by author or subject matter.
If used booksellers are asking $5-$10 for the book, I’ll let you decide.
If used booksellers are asking $10+ for the book, list it.
If you don’t see the book listed at Abe’s, then:
1. It is extremely rare and worth a small fortune
or
2. It is worthless. (‘Gently’ place it in your recycling bin or donate it.)

There seem to be a lot of questions here about where to access copyrighted books (ie: those not in the public domain) online for free. Is this becoming an acceptable practice in general society?
No. No more than it’s acceptable practice to walk into a bookshop and steal a book. It amounts to the same thing, and most people over the age of about 16 realise that.
I am on a Christmas break and I don’t have any books to read and I’ve found a website before with books to read online, but I can’t find it anymore. Does anybody have any ideas of where I can find some?
Most authors are not willing to let you read their books for free. Respect their right to earn a living.
If the author is OK with you reading for free, then he will post the book on his website. It is not legal for someone to copy a book without the author’s permission and put them on a file sharing site.
Cory Doctorow is one of the few authors that doesn’t mind giving his books away for free.
