Any books on how to start a brokerage and agency business?
Any popular books out there on how to start a brokerage business, or how to start an agency business? I am not talking about mortgage brokerage, or securities brokerage, rather general brokerage and or agency How-tos.
Also,
is there any other books specialising on How to start brokerage business of goods and services?

Will this help?

Raunchiness/love is a plus the books get a bit boring for me if they’re SO in love with each other but only want to kiss.
Another plus is if it’s a series of books following the characters.

I’ve already read heaps like :
The Black Dagger Brotherhood series.
The Mortal Instruments series.
The Maggie Stiefvater books.
The Sookie Stackhouse series.
Etcetc.

Thanks!

The Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian. The first book in the series is A Kiss of Midnight:
He watches her from across the crowded dance club, a sensual black-haired stranger who stirs Gabrielle Maxwell’s deepest fantasies. But nothing about this night—or this man—is what it seems. For when Gabrielle witnesses a murder outside the club, reality shifts into something dark and deadly. In that shattering instant she is thrust into a realm she never knew existed—a realm where vampires stalk the shadows and a blood war is set to ignite.

Lucan Thorne despises the violence carried out by his lawless brethren. A vampire himself, Lucan is a Breed warrior, sworn to protect his kind—and the unwitting humans existing alongside them—from the mounting threat of the Rogues. Lucan cannot risk binding himself to a mortal woman, but when Gabrielle is targeted by his enemies, he has no choice but to bring her into the dark underworld he commands.

Here, in the arms of the Breed’s formidable leader, Gabrielle will confront an extraordinary destiny of danger, seduction, and the darkest pleasures of all. . . .
……..
Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K Hamilton. The first book in the series is Guilty Pleasures:
Introducing Anita Blake, vampire hunter extraordinaire. Most people don’t even bat an eye at vampires since they’ve been given equal rights by the Supreme Court. But Anita knows better–she’s seen their victims. . . . A serial killer is murdering vampires, however, and now the most powerful vampire in town wants Anita to find the killer.
……..
Mercedes Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. The first book in the series is Moon Called:
Mercy Thompson’s life is not exactly normal. Her next-door neighbor is a werewolf. Her former boss is a gremlin. And she’s fixing a VW bus for a vampire. But then, Mercy isn’t exactly normal herself.
……
Moon Chasers series by Sharie Kohler. The first book in the series is Marked by Moonlight:
Seemingly overnight, Claire Morgan has transformed: the normally mousy schoolteacher is now bold, and her behavior is truly wild. Her eyes gleam silver. Suddenly she’s a self-confident femme fatale with a libido that just won’t quit. After an impulsive makeover, she’s even…dare she say it?…sexy. Is Claire going insane?

Then brutally handsome stranger Gideon March tells her she was bitten by a werewolf, and Claire figures he’s the insane one. Sure, she was attacked by a nasty dog in a back alley, but this guy stalking her says he’s a member of an underground society of lycan hunters — and his mission is to kill her immediately.

When Claire finally realizes she really is a lycan, there’s no turning back — because by now Claire and Gideon are bound by a hungry passion. If they can’t break the curse by the next full moon, Claire’s soul will be lost forever and Gideon will be forced to terminate his prey — a woman dangerously close to devouring him, heart and soul.

Is there statistics on how popular books such as Harry Potter and Twilight, increased people to read?

I’m writing a paper on how books are very sacred within society. After gathering some information I found out that books such as Harry potter and Twilight are being banned within many countries but I think that they’re really important in that after the movies, many people began to read these books. I feel that these books actually encouraged people to read and that’s really important. Does anyone know any statistics or articles that show the increase in reading after these kind of books?
I’m having trouble finding them.

I don’t think that it matters all that much that people start to read if they won’t move on to better things, I can’t say that of Harry Potter, I think it’s a good book.

But Twilight I consider pure crap, I don’t care if it makes a 100 million more people read, they might as well be reading the back of cereal packs, that would be perhaps more intellectual.

What books are good for reading to toddlers?

For Christmas, I want to get my niece some books to read to her. She’ll be about 15 months, so I basically want things with longevity. She already has a bunch of 123’s and abc’s books, as well as some small story collections, but what else? What did you read to your kids when they were this young?

My daughter is two, and we have found that the books we bought to read for her when she was one are the kind that she is learning to read on her own now. The 123’s and abc’s are actually VERY good for them learning the basics of how to read and recognize numbers. The ones that you can read to THEM are good ones like the old fashioned Disney collection, or the playhouse Disney learning books that have content good enough for a child up to four.

She’ll probably LOVE pop up books (but don’t let her get her hands on them!) and there are quite a few cute seasonal ones that come out near Christmas. If You Give a Mouse a Cookie is a good book, as well as the other ones by the same author (If You Give a Moose a Muffin, If You Give a Pig a Pancake, and If You Give a Cat a Cupcake, etc…) those are good books that will at least start to catch her attention. :)

What books do you recommend for a future history major?

I’m shooting to be a history major. So I want to know which books should I buy from Amazon? I’m trying to read some lenghty classical books? I want to be armed and ready with knowledge for college.

I am a history major- A junior. I’m planning on going to graduate school to get my Phd. My concentration is Medieval History. I agree with the person who said reading classical "novels" won’t arm you for knowledge in that field. However, reading books that are difficult will increase your vocabulary and hone your critical reading and thinking skills.

This is a hard question to answer because I don’t know if you want classical books written by historians or are just looking for classical literature. In High School my mother made me complete a list of 150 great books. I ended up loving most of the books. I suggest something like that or asking a librarian for some book choice advice.

For historians I have read The Histories by Herodotus and The History of the Peloponnesian War by Thucydides. These are ancient historians. Herodotus is considered the "father of history". I have also enjoyed 1066:The Hidden History in the Bayeux Tapestry by Andrew Bridgeford, The Spartans by Paul Cartledge (a Classicist at Oxford University), Thermopylae by Paul Cartledge.

Put them in order by:

publication date

What are some books about teens in high school or any kind of romance novels?

October 162010

Posted in books | 4 Comments »

I love to read books about teens in high school facing troubles. Some of these troubles can include friendship, boyfriends, pregnancy, family troubles, things like that. I prefer books from a girls point of view.
Can you please include the author and full title of the book so I can find the books more easily. And if possible, can you include a short summary of the book?
Thank you soo much!

One author fits the discription to a T!
Sarah Dessen.
She wrote 9 books so far and almost all of them have romance in them and all deal with problems like family deaths, pregnancy, self confidence, being in control, and more

I have read the books:
a rose for melinda
dear jo
living dead girl
the chosen one

i am trying to find similar books. books that have something about someone being kid napped… stuff like that. or books with tragic endings or books with a big twist in them.

How about two teens, kidnapped in separate events, who meet in captivity and (successfully) plot their escape. The book is The Long Way Home, by Florida Town, and it’s on Smashwords. Not sure if it’s on Amazon yet or not.
