I really wants some books that are meant for teenage girls actually. I really want to learn more about God. Yes, I have asked God into my heart. Yes, I am reading the Bible. But, are there any good books about him out there? Particularly by Elizabeth George.

i have read some good books by Max Lucado, so i’ll second that, particularly, When God Whispers Your Name. i’ve read several, but i think that’s my favorite.

also, i’ve greatly enjoyed Elisabeth Elliot’s writings, such as Passion and Purity, Through the Gates of Splendor. she’s a gifted writer and has such a heart for God.

you might also enjoy Lee Stroebel’s books about Christianity and any of C.S. Lewis’ works on Christianity as well. every Christian should read Mere Christianity. it might still be available free on line

i also suggest you pick up, My Utmost For His Highest, daily devotional by Oswald Chambers. it’s a classic and is very insightful.

My grandfather was recently diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). He has progressed much faster than we thought and it’s reaching the end of his time here. My mother has taken this very hard and she’s fallen into a state of depression that worsens each day. I wanted to find her a good book on dealing with the death of a loved one to help her out, I worry about her.

Try Spiritism by Allan Kardec (is a religion – big in Brazil). Spiritism IS Christian and explain life after death and reencarnation. It brings great hope to those who lost a loved one. Tells you where we go after death, places that look like here on Earth (Earth is a copy of the "after life"), that we reunite with our beloved ones, etc. You can check out the trailer for the movie "Nosso Lar" or "Astral City" (based on a novel with the same name, which you can find for free at http://www.geae.inf.br/en/books/ac/index.html). The movie will be released only in september
I would recommend, for begginers, "The Spirit’s Book" (Questions (by the living) and answeres (by the dead) pretty much) and "The Gospel According to Spiritism" – http://www.spiritwritings.com/kardecspiritstoc.html . "Astral City" is awesome too, since is a spirit talking about his experience in the after life! Maybe she can start with this one! Hope it was helpful!

Books and stories about Born-Again Christians. Please help.

So far as Born-Again Christians some Daredevil stuff is OK like Born Again or Gaurdian Devil tpb. But thats about it they don’t really focus on faith as a theme despite there having been religous stories. There was a good moment in DC’s Infinite Crisis where the hero’s were in church, and I know of a good SGT Rock story involving a christian soldier and a jewish one. Stay away from anything written by Garth Ennis BTW
