Depends on whether portability or ergonomics is the most important aspect for you. If you want to be able to work anywhere any time, choose on of the MacBook Pros, if you will be working from one locations mostly probably one of the iMac models would suit you. I use a 21.5" iMac for my main computer and a laptop for smaller/moving around type jobs.

I am under 13 and I’ve been writing books since 2nd grade and I was wondering if there are any publishers that let kids under 18 publish a book? Thank you a bunch!

Age isn’t a deciding factor when a publisher signs a book- it is the quality and how marketable the book will be that they look for. Publishers will publish books from any age author so long as they fit the criteria, though you will need to have a parent or guardian co-sign any legal documentation such as contracts.

It’s kind of sad . . . with the ‘Nook’ and ‘Kindle’ going out, old fashion books are loosing their place.
Borders has already closed its doors all over the country..
how long do you think it will be until they stop publishing books all together?

Centuries. People who read books love them and are not fans of electronic books for the most part.

I have the free Kindle app on my ipod touch and rarely use it. (I put free books on it.) For one thing, no pictures. That’s crucial in say the books of Da Vinci. You can’t share books with friends. You can’t take it in the bathtub. It’s terrible for flipping back and forth in a book or going back to the table of contents in a book of short stories. And if Amazon takes a notion, they can delete any book out of your system. (They did it with 1984 when they discovered they were selling an illegal copy.) And frankly, it’s too easy for the government to check on what books you have because of that system.

Nook has pictures, but still has some of the other problems. The books are not cheaper than paper and you can’t buy a used version of the books. You have to spend upwards of $100 for the device, which will like be old in a couple of years, and that’s before you buy any books at full price. You also can’t use the books on other things. So if a book you want is only on Kindle, you can’t use it on Nook, and vice versa. You can’t sell them for money to buy a new book.

Borders and similar stores are not closing because of Nook and Kindle. They were in trouble before those came out. They are closing because most of their books are still full price. And the economy is tanking. People can buy books for less either at used books stores, online stores, or other sources. The internet is why they are closing, not because the books are paper.

With paper books, you can take them everywhere. You don’t have to recharge them. You can lend them to friends. They don’t depend on technology. You can flip forward and find out the ending or flip back to find a relevant passage or part you forgot. They have incredible illustrations that show better on paper. You can buy used ones and save a bunch of money. The won’t become obsolete by changing technology. The bibilophiles of the world are very reluctant to give up real books.

Imagine having an entire library of books and your device dies. You have to spend another 100 plus dollars and then go through the hassle of figuring out what books you had and downloading them again, if they have your records. What if the company no longer exists or insists you buy a new version since you had an older technology. That won’t happen with a book.

I’m interested in self-publishing books on Amazon’s Kindle store, but I don’t know if it would be just waste of time.. So I’m just wondering if anyone has a good experience self-publishing e-books~ thank u~

Certain kinds of work can be self published successfully. Poets often self publish. I you have a book that fits a niche where you have a built in audience/customer base (a church cook book for example) can be successful within certain limits. If you write fiction novels you are very unlikely to ever become a success by self publishing. A publisher will promote your book and distribute it to book stores. It is a team effort. When you are on your own it is almost impossible to get your book noticed let alone get anyone to buy it. Sorry to be such a drag, that’s just the way it is….
