I prefer walk-in places, but if there is a good online website, that will do too. Bookstore at my college gives very little for used books.

Used college textbooks are generally sold for very less, unless you list your own prices on sites such as half.com, which is run by e-bay (generally a lot of people do look on half.com for used textbooks, so it’s not bad to sell this way, although it would be slightly less convenient than just selling them all at once at your college bookstore or other textbook sites). I would recommend checking out chegg.com because they buy back your books and allow to print a free shipping label so you don’t have to pay for one, but be warned that they won’t buy back your books for much either.

I want to find good books that have been released in the last 3 years or so for $7 or less. And if there’s a shipping price it should be low too. I don’t care if the books are new or used. I don’t want text books either.

Amazon.com. Shipping is about 3.99 per book, so it can add up if you buy it from retailers. If you use Amazon as the retailer then shipping is free for orders over $25. I’ve bought some really cheap new books. I don’t buy used books from there, but I know sometimes the used books will be more than the new books.

(They’re usually labeled near their profile name, "Best used-book dealer," or something like that.) Trust me, just do it. Even if one dealer on the end of the list is selling it for 1/3 of the retail price. You won’t get your book. Seriously. For example, for Christmas, I got a gift card, and used it to get a small, paper back novel for, like, six dollars. (Three dollars for the novel, and $3.99 for shipping.)

After I placed my order, the guy canceled it. I was annoyed, but then I thought, "Hey, it happens! It’s okay, don’t worry." But now, my sister used her own gift card for a couple of books. She got the books that she bought without the dealer in three days, but after twenty days, there’s still no word about the twenty dollar book from the dealer. I used to buy books all the time, and many of them I haven’t even read but don’t plan to anymore. The ones that I have read still look brand new. So I’m wondering if there is a good way to get rid of them and maybe get some money back for them or support a really good cause. Are there any organizations looking for book donations, or good sites to sell them on, or something?

You could take them to a used book shop. They usually have a trade policy.

Your local library would love to have new stock.

A public school library or hospital would also be a good choice.
