Natural selection is also nothing more than a natural process, it has no more moral authority than other natural processes like, say, tooth decay. I’m quite free to adopt children, give to charity, use contraception, go skydiving, or any of various other things that don’t exactly help spread copies of my genetic code around.

Atheism does not claim any moral authority or guidelines, that’s what philosophy is for. I enjoy being nice to people, and that’s good enough for me.

I hear a lot of theists claim that “believing” in reason and science is, itself, a form of faith – that in many ways, it is no different than having faith in a god. But when they make the cosmological argument, they put a great deal of faith in science’s conclusion that the universe seemed to have had a beginning.
