I just got a $10.00 gift card to Books-a-Million and I was wondering if there were any fairly new books out that are good.

Uglies by Scott Westerfeld

Or Twilight by Stephenie Myer

Or A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer.

I got tired of reading the best sellers and switched to non fiction. "Krakatora" by Winchester was good. And a couple books about Nikola Tesla the inventer were excellent.

Try the twilight series. It’s an interesting read that’s written well, in an enjoyable format. Warning: its a vampire romance. I don’t mean hot, bloody, tearing-out-the-neck sex, but it deals with vampires and romance. Book one is twilight, book 2 is New moon, and book 3 is Eclipse.

You could also try the Xanth series, which isn’t new, but is good none-the-less.(Sci-fi/magic)

From 2001, Jasper Fforde’s first Thursday Next mystery/fantasy novel called The Eyre Affair is a great book that is interesting and very funny in parts. It supposedly takes place in 1985, but a 1985 unlike anything this earth ever saw: fictional characters are being kidnapped out of their books and into the real world by real people, people can jump into works of fiction, if an original manuscript is altered in any way every copy in existence is changed forever and much more.

Another really good book is called The Oath by Frank Peretti. Something in a remote mining town is marking people and that mark means their doom. This one is a bit older (1995) but is very enjoyable and fast-paced.

If you like non-fiction and animals, I’d recommend either Marley & Me by John Grogan or Rescuing Sprite: A Dog Lover’s Story of Joy and Anguish by Mark R. Levin. About the first one I was told that when you stop laughing, you’ll start crying. That was very true. The second one is very touching throughout.

    I hope this helps.
